Modern Vintage Children Photography / Massachusetts

September 12, 2011

As a photographer my inspiration comes from different sources, books, music, different forms of art, sometimes just life experiences. Lately I have been studying the work of early photographers. This session was inspired by the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, a British photographer who started photographing in 1864 at the age of 48 when her daughter gave her a camera as a present. I love her portraits, the soft focus, dark vignettes, and the contemplative, sometimes somber look of her subjects. Most of Cameron’s photographs have a spiritual sensibility, and are peaceful and romantic. For this session I toured different places around town and took this precious little girl along with me.
